Rawdon & Apperley Bridge (8 miles)

800 CALORIES
90 OF YOUR 150 MINUTES WEEKLY EXERCISE

Come along for your dose of social, mental and physical health in our led 8 miles walk from Farsley Cenotaph.

We start by stretching our legs and viewing the grand Victorian homes around Rawdon Cragg Woods.  Developed in the 1800s with a vision from Nathaniel Briggs to provide luxury homes for the Bradford mills elites.  Many of the elaborate homes still stand, shrouded by the woodland with views across the valley.

Progressing to Apperley Bridge we pass the nearly 500 year old Stansfield Arms then over green fields and paddocks to reach a unique footbridge of the River Aire (no need to cross!).  The return incorporates a short canal stretch, Dobson Locks and marina before routing through Calverley and green bridleways.

Refunds: Sorry, but due to feasibility, I will need 48hrs cancellation notice prior to walk to refund or provide credit.  Full refund/credit if the walk is cancelled.

The date/time selected is when the group leaves Farsley Cenotaph.

Description

We are each responsible for ourselves, but as part of my England Athletics COVID secure environment risk assessments, I’d just like to highlight these notes if I may:

  • Please do not attend if you have COVID symptoms – but do get in touch if you have already booked.
  • I operate under England Athletics licensing (1:12 std ratio) – current rules are found here.
  • Please remember 2m spacing of households throughout the activity.
  • A face covering is jolly useful (but not mandatory) when gathering, though if not, a little extra distance would be appreciated. Once on the move, it’s of personal preference as may impede some during exertion.
  • I lug around basic First Aid, hand sanitizer and face shielding. However, upon an incident, please, please do not crowd the injured party; support will be offered “hands-off” in the first instance but I will ask permission before close contact.
  • It’s handy to familiarise yourself with any other official advice, such as NHS: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
  • In the event of track and trace, I may be required to pass on your name and email.
  • Please ensure there are no medical reasons to avoid the activity; seeking medical opinion if necessary. Also, please advise me of anything which may support first aid incidents.
  • If you have suffered from COVID recently, please do highlight as I’m keen to support: read my blog.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!
